Living in Davidson

The town of Davidson is the quintessential Southern lakeside suburb, complete with a quaint downtown, miles of shoreline and a nationally recognized university.

For years, Davidson residents have worked hard to maintain the small-town feel, even as the Charlotte region has grown up around it. Town ordinance prevents drive-throughs and requires good design, and Davidson leaders have invested in miles of greenway and open space.

The town shares its name with Davidson College, the selective campus that has graduated such notable North Carolinians as former Gov. Jim Martin, President Woodrow Wilson, author Patricia Cornwell and NBA champion Steph Curry.

But even though it’s a college town, the neighboring Lake Norman is also a major attraction. Davidson sports scores of move-in ready waterfront homes.
